Dan Reed Network - Robin 2, Bilston UK - 7th November 2018

Back in the UK to promote their latest album "Origins", Dan Reed Network arrived at The Robin 2 in Bilston to kick off their new tour. The rain arrived with a SLAM shortly before the fans started descending on the venue, but nothing was going to stop these die-hard rockers seeing their beloved band perform. First in the queue, waiting for the doors to open, was one fan who had driven all the way up from the West Country especially to see his favourite funk rockers on stage.

This was going to be one hell of a night as the crowd filled up this brilliant intimate venue tucked away in the Black Country. We were treated to two fantastic up and coming bands in Hollowstar and Mason Hill, who had been specifically picked by Dan Reed to support The Network on this tour. Both bands delivered on all fronts as they plied us with a string of great rock songs that warmed the crowd up perfectly.

Dan Reed Network blasted their way onto the stage with the classic Rock You All Night.Their unique blend of funk mixed with rock showed up Divided before hitting us with the first track from the new album in Forgot To Make Her Mine

The next three songs took the temperature to boiling point. Brion James’ blistering guitar and Melvin Brannon’s thumping bass tunes competed with the impeccable vocals from Dan Reed, as the band played Under My Skin, Doin’ The Love Thing and the ever crowd pleasing Rainbow Child. Dan moves around the stage like a master mime artist who has honed his trade over the years.

The sound of the crowd singing along loudly with the last track was still reverberating around the venue as we were treated to Champion before Rob Daiker’s keyboards played the opening chords from Tiger In A Dress. The whole place was buzzing as Save The World and Get To You lead us into the most beautiful version of Stronger Than Steel.

It was time for another track from the new album as One Last Time was played and from the reaction it was clear that the audience are going to love the new album upon its release on 23 November 2018. At various points in the set the band jammed to the likes of Metallica’s Enter Sandman and Shalamar’s Make That Move. Not your typical Dan Reed Network songs but the fans loved every minute.

Ritual and Seven Sisters Road brought the show to an end, leaving the fans wanted more. Sadly, this was not to be. The band took the plaudits and the appreciative cheers from the worshipping fans. This had been a fantastic way to kick yet another incredible tour. These guys are just so cool. They burst with enthusiasm to play their music live and boy they do it extremely well.
